World Communion Cups Partners with Sheltering Wings to Support Survivors and Families

Posted by WCC Products on 2nd Jun 2026

At World Communion Cups, our mission has always been about more than providing communion supplies. We believe in serving churches, ministries, families, and communities with care, consistency, and purpose.

That same heart for service is why we are grateful to partner with Sheltering Wings, a Christ-centered organization in Danville, Indiana, that provides safety, support, and resources for survivors escaping domestic abuse.

Since 2002, Sheltering Wings Center for Survivors has provided services for more than 6,000 survivors. They are the only domestic violence shelter in Hendricks County and one of the largest in the state of Indiana. Their work reaches across Central Indiana, serving survivors from Hendricks, Marion, Boone, Hamilton, and surrounding counties.

A Place of Safety, Stability, and Hope

Sheltering Wings is more than a shelter. It is a place where individuals and families can find immediate safety, receive support, and begin rebuilding their lives.

Their services include:

  • 24/7/365 helpline support
  • Emergency shelter and housing help
  • Victim advocacy, including protective order filing
  • Case management and skill-building programs
  • Counseling and emotional stabilization
  • Direct assistance for families facing barriers
  • Children and youth programming
  • Community training and education
  • Domestic and dating violence prevention for youth and teens

At any given time, Sheltering Wings serves around 60 people inside the shelter and another 100 in the community. About half of those served are children, which makes family care and long-term support an important part of their mission.

The Impact of Community Support

The work of Sheltering Wings is only possible because of people, churches, and businesses who care enough to help. According to Paige Vanzo, Donor and Engagement Director, about 75% of their funding and needed supplies come from individual donors, businesses, and churches.

Paige shared the story of Samantha, who endured two years of emotional and physical abuse. When her partner threatened to take their son and never return, Samantha called Sheltering Wings. Today, she and her children are safe, and she is building a new life with the support of the organization.

Stories like Samantha’s remind us why this work matters. Each donation, act of service, and community partnership helps create a path toward safety and healing.

More Than a Donation

World Communion Cups is honored to support Sheltering Wings through financial gifts, storage space, and ongoing partnership. For us, this partnership is not just about giving. It is about standing alongside an organization doing meaningful and often difficult work every day.

Paige shared:

“We are so proud to partner with World Communion Cups. Everyone there has been so good to the people we serve. From very generous financial gifts to the use of storage space for two-plus years, the Lord has worked through World Communion Cups to touch hundreds of lives. We couldn’t be more grateful.”

She also added:

“It has been a personal blessing of mine to get to work with Steve, Donna, Justin, and everyone at World Communion Cups. They are special people who have been so generous and loving in so many ways. The people we serve continue to be blessed by this partnership.”

Those words mean a lot to our team. As a company rooted in faith and service, we are grateful for the opportunity to support work that brings care, encouragement, and hope to families in need.

Caring for the Whole Family

One of the things that makes Sheltering Wings special is the way they care for the entire family. Children, parents, and individuals all receive support as they take steps toward safety and stability.

That care can come in many forms, from counseling and advocacy to practical needs like food, paper goods, and basic household supplies. Sheltering Wings is often in need of items such as canned chicken and tuna, canned meals like ravioli or SpaghettiOs, packaged snacks, and paper goods of all kinds.

They also welcome volunteers for events and help around the building. Community support makes their work possible.

And sometimes, care comes with four paws.

Moxley, a therapy dog, visits Sheltering Wings a few times a year to spend time with clients. For children and families walking through difficult seasons, moments of comfort, joy, and connection can make a lasting impact.

A Shared Commitment to Service

Every day, World Communion Cups works with churches and ministries focused on serving people spiritually and practically. Supporting Sheltering Wings gives us another opportunity to live out that same value of care in our own community.

Communion is a reminder of grace, unity, and love. Partnerships like this remind us that care is something we are called to practice, not just speak about.

We are thankful for the work Sheltering Wings is doing and grateful to play a small part in supporting their mission.
