Gluten-free communion shouldn't feel like a separate, special arrangement. With WCC Chalice Gluten-Free, members who need it receive the same traditional chalice cup as everyone else, with Concord grape juice in the top compartment and gluten-free bread in the bottom, each sealed until opened. Now available in convenient bagged packs.
Keep a supply ready for Sunday worship, Bible studies and small groups, hospital and home visits, retreats, and special services. The cups are individually sealed and ready to serve, so there's no pouring or preparation, and the quiet, easy-open design keeps the focus on worship.
Not sure where to start? Our church size guide walks through the math, and many churches begin with the 25-count bag and move up as they learn how much they use.
Both are available gluten-free, and the choice usually comes down to what your congregation expects. WCC Chalice uses gluten-free bread in a traditional, reverent presentation. WCC Elements is our economical option with a gluten-free wafer on top and easy-open offset tabs. See Elements with gluten-free wafers, or read our Chalice vs. Simply vs. Elements guide.
Grape Juice: Grape juice from concentrate, water, sodium benzoate.
Gluten-Free Bread: Gluten-free flour mix (garbanzo bean, rice flour, brown rice flour, potato starch, corn starch, xanthan gum, and psyllium husk), water, canola oil, and salt. Free of gluten, wheat, dairy, yeast, eggs, soy, and nuts.
Store in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months, or refrigerate for 6 months. Cups can be frozen for up to a year. Keep them in their original bags so the gluten-free labeling stays visible, and check the best-by date on your package. Our guide to storing prefilled communion cups has more tips.
How is gluten-free Chalice different from regular Chalice?
Only the bread. It's the same traditional cup, listed and packaged separately so it's easy to order and store the right one. See our regular WCC Chalice cups if you need the standard version.
Do these cups need to be refrigerated?
No. A cool, dry place is enough. Refrigerating is an option, and freezing extends their life to a year.
Is there a gluten-free Chalice with sacramental wine?
Yes. WCC Chalice is also available with sacramental wine and gluten-free bread. See our sacramental wine cups.
